Our recycling company works to eliminate land fill by processing everything as efficiently as possible. We believe it is of critical importance to be doing as much as we can to help save our planet. So this is what we do.

Metals

We dismantle each article before dispatching components to the metal recycling yard where they handle scrap. Any salvageable objects that can be saved we donate to people that need them. Reusing metals avoids buying new materials in a time of current economic difficulty. Getting stuff upcycled helps bring down costs and reduces worry.

Plastics 

Not all solid materials are easy to reprocess. We divide the plastic we take on a like for like basis before we granulate it. Feeding it through a granulator, chops it into tiny pieces. Then we bag it in its appropriate sacks to be sent into the recycle centre so it can be moulded anew into something else that is needed.

It could become a drinking water bottle, a food basket, pallet or begin a brand new life as an office chair. Anything plastic we strip can be granulated. If anything looks like we can save it then we gift it to an organisation who needs it. When items can be repurposed, nobody need buy or worry about affordability.

POPS (persistent organic pollutants)

These are the padding in chairs, sofas, stools or anything we sit on at home or in the office. We always check if anything is salvageable first. Saved items are given to those having financial difficulty, through charitable organisations and schools. This way afterschool clubs or a charity group will benefit from our help.

Items proving unusable are disassembled by our fitters. Separating all the parts to categorise and recycle bit by bit. We chop the padding and shred into pieces and distribute to companies capable of incinerating for us. Materials need to be incinerated at around 1000c to guarantee protecting the eco system and human health.

Wood 

Planks and wooden furniture comes in all sizes. No cabinet or desk is shaped the same. Good wood can be reclaimed or restored, so we try our best to make use of collected items. Money keeps getting tighter for communities, so everyone benefits when what we receive is given back to academic or charity enterprises.

A lot of left overs gets put through a chipper and depending what grade wood this is, we will either make mulch fire lighters or brickets for fuel. Fuel donations helps to tackle the country's energy problems by giving to people who can use it.

WEEE

WEEE is electrical items that are not required anymore. We sort these thoroughly. If we receive computers, we immediately destroy the hard drive so no sensitive data or confidential information is released. You receive a certificate of destruction as assurance of safe handling. Our technicians will expertly investigate all other electrical equipment. All items that seem to be working are examined. We complete a PAT test (portable appliance test) and if they are functioning well we would rather give to community groups who will benefit the most.

Remaining items failing to work properly get broken down into pieces to be recycled as appropriate. Plastics and metals are processed as already described.

Cardboard / Paper

Waste paper and cardboard gets recycled by compressing it into bails. Recycling centres take the bails away to guarantee it gets appropriately used again. Some paperwork could be confidential so it is important that we shred this first before we do anything else. This correctly assures no personal data is ever seen before waste paper is taken away to be recycled.

Fire Extinguishers

Dealing with hazardous equipment like fire extinguishers can be dangerous. We have to drain their contents into appropriate drums. These nasty liquids or powders need to taken care of. Their secure delivery to a specialist centre means they can be correctly disposed of. We then handle the casings in an appropriate way, either plastic or metals.

We Collect all Items

Kingsgate  offer a collection service so all you need to do is send us an email or complete our contact form online. Tell us what you have or need us to take away, so we can send our removals team out to you for pick up.

Please send us a list of your requirements we can use to produce a quote for our service. If you are happy with our pricing to collect your effects for recycling, then we will arrange an agreed date and time for the team to visit for collection. 

Alternatively you can bring it directly to our recycling centre. This way our staff will help unload and then provide pricing for what you have brought us, take your details and send you an invoice.
